Last week, 17 chronic patients, most of them elderly, died, bringing the total official number of deaths related to the new coronavirus infection to 48,828, the government’s Coronavirus Press Center told MTI, presenting last week's aggregate figures.
It said 447 new infections were confirmed in the previous week, bringing the total number of identified infections to 2,200,211 since the start of the epidemic.
The number of cured cases has increased to 2,147,103 and the number of active infected has risen to 4,280.
It was also reported that 97 patients with coronavirus are currently hospitalized, two of whom are on ventilators.
The total number of people vaccinated against coronavirus is 6,422,183, of whom 6,210,146 have received their second, 3,905,237 their third and 425,410 their fourth vaccination.
According to the statement, the epidemic in Hungary is currently at a moderate level, thanks in part to the high vaccination coverage. Unvaccinated people are still the most at risk and continue to be asked to be vaccinated.
It is recommended that anyone who has had their previous vaccination more than four months ago should receive the booster vaccine, they said.
