The MVM Group achieved consolidated sales revenue of HUF 2,015 billion in the first six months of this year, following HUF 2,156 billion in the first half of last year, and its after-tax profit was HUF 221.8 billion, compared to HUF 222.0 billion in the same period last year, the company announced on the Budapest Stock Exchange (BÉT) website on Monday.
According to the energy company's half-yearly report, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) increased to HUF 478 billion from HUF 450 billion in the first half of last year.
Natural gas storage and sales revenues are higher during the winter heating season, and annual peak loads on the electricity system generally occur in winter, but the use of air conditioning systems is already generating increasing electricity consumption in the summer; seasonal effects must be taken into account when analyzing half-yearly financial information, they indicated.
Protracted trade and geopolitical tensions continued to cause uncertainty in the global economic environment in the first half of 2025. The terms and expected real economic effects of the customs agreements that have been concluded or are in the pipeline vary significantly from region to region, and their impact on Hungary is uncertain but likely to be negative, they emphasized.
The slow European economy also reduced the domestic outlook, as Hungary's trade exposure and deep integration into the global supply chain reduced export opportunities, the report said.
The MVM Group has significant assets and positions in almost every element of the energy value chain, and its activities extend beyond Hungary to other countries in the region, primarily the Czech Republic. Its activities expanded to include hydrocarbon production in Azerbaijan on August 30, 2024.
The group serves the entire domestic universal natural gas and electricity supply market, primarily residential customers.
