Surprisingly Many Hungarians Go on Holiday in the Fall

Not only schools ring the bell early September, but that's when most Hungarians fly, according to September and October bookings at the Czech travel technology company site Kiwi.com. London in September and Rome in October are the most popular destinations, while Italy is the absolute favorite for the fall. This is not just a mini-vacation, but typically a real holiday, with a third of travelers flying for 4-6 days and around the same number for even longer times.

Based on prices so far, it looks like October is the best time to fly from Budapest within the continent, while overseas flights in September are significantly cheaper than both summer and October prices.

London, Barcelona and Rome are the most popular destinations in September, while the Italian capital takes the lead in October, followed by London and then Paris, the company's data shows. If you look at the country rather than the city totals, we can see that we are still longing for the sea in the autumn months, with Italy, Spain and Greece being the favorites in September, while in October, Portugal takes over from Greece in third place, making the latter the fourth most popular destination.
