According to data from the booking website Szallas.hu, the most popular destinations for domestic travel in the fall are Budapest, Eger and Pécs, with the majority of guests planning a two-night stay.
According to the analysis sent by the accommodation booking portal to MTI on Wednesday, Northern Hungary leads the regional rankings in autumn, with every fifth domestic booking going to the region. Lake Balaton ranks second with 15% of bookings, followed by Budapest and its catchment area and Western Transdanubia (13% each).
One-third of autumn bookings are for hotels, while 27% of travelers chose apartments. Guesthouses account for 24% of autumn bookings, bed-and-breakfasts for 13%, and other types of accommodation for 4%. Szallas.hu data also revealed that about one-third of guests requested meals with their accommodation, most often breakfast or half board. Among hotels, the 4- and 3-star categories are the most popular.
According to data from Szallas.hu, the most popular attractions this fall include the Nyíregyháza Zoo, the Sárvár Spa and Wellness Center, the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden, the Eger Castle and the Gyula Castle Baths, but many also visit the Zalakaros Bath, Hungarospa Hajdúszoboszló, Visegrád Castle, Esztergom Basilica and the Festetics Castle in Keszthely.
